For people like me who prefer a trading
firm with low-cost commissions, the discount broker seems to be the appropriate
choice. However, nowadays there are some good full-service brokerage firms too
that have started offering trading plans at low commission. On the same hand,
you have traditional banks that target the well-heeled with personal bankers
who pick out investments like personal shoppers pick out ties for rich
executives. So, it ideally depends upon an investor what kind of brokersheor he
would like to go ahead with. There is nothing called the best
trading firm for one and all. One firm could be good for you or rather
the best for you but not for your friend who might have different investment
requirements and a different budget to pay to his or her broker.
These days, people have started opting
a lot for online brokers. There are online brokers who have a very communal
approach toward online investing. When you sign up for their brokerage service,
you can also choose to "attach" your trades to the trades of other
investors. For example, if you and your friend have an account with such
brokers, you can choose to buy or sell any stock your friend is buying and
selling. You will receive an e-mail telling you your friend’s trade is going to
be made and you can choose to have the system carry out the trade for you, too.
You can remove your "attachment" at any time. Isn’t this service
interesting and worth trying at least once. Then, there are brokerage houses
that target active traders with computer software that lets you enter trades
that will trigger automatically based on rules you set ahead of time. For
investors who want to pick trends or themes, not necessarily individual stocks,
there are trading firms that let customers choose from dozens of investment
options.
